2. Improvements in health-related technology allows people to live longer, creating a population problem. Lack of space and resources calls for desperate measures and a brings about a variety of "band-aid" solutions, until it is finally decided that only the virtual world can accommodate so many people. At first it is opt-in, but eventually it becomes mandatory in some places. People who live in the real world are also allowed to visit the virtual world at first, but as people raised in the virtual world begin to question what this "outside world" is like, fear of uprising causes the virtual world to become closed-off.
3. A "3D Printing Craze" eliminates the need for human workers in most areas, aside from the occasional need to fix the machines or perform maintenance. Values such as individuality and ingenuity will generally be a thing of the past as people become more enamored with the convenience and lower cost of 3D printing, and whether or not they're important will be up for debate.
