Leah Leiding: Assignment 1, Step 1 Final

1.  In the future, there will be no need to transport water to regions without easy access. Instead dew absorbent blankets will be laid around desert and dry lands that will take in any moisture from the air providing water anywhere is the world.

2. Monthly water bills will soon be a thing of the past.  In 50 years, water used in houses will only need to be purchased once because houses will be built with their own orbital water purifying systems, providing clean water every day.

3.  A serum injected into defendants, designed to force the person to answer truthfully, will be used in court trials ending wrongful convictions in the next 100 years.  As global tensions increase, this same serum will be used in interrogations of terrorists.

4. In less than 50 years, cars that drive themselves will be put on the market.  In 100 years, that is all that will be available, evolving the pace of daily life and the way that cities are built.

5. In 100 years, a camera ball with navigational abilities will be used in house fires to detect if any humans or animals are trapped inside so that firefighters can be more efficient and safe.

6. Siri can hear what you say and transfer it to your phone screen, but in 50 years a wearable chip that accesses your brain waves will follow your thoughts to transfer them to your phone without you ever opening your mouth or using your hands.

7. As 3D printing and medicine progress, the two will be combined to print organs for transplant patients using the own patients DNA.  In a few hundred years, this technology will become so advances, that whole human beings will be printable.

8. With the research in hydroponics advancing, in 100 years, every major city will have "green skyscrapers" that aid in reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as well as bring organic life back into the cities.

9. In a few 100 years, social classes will have become so extreme that the upper class will make use of metamaterials essentially "erasing themselves" from the world and creating their own nation in absolute privacy.

10. Aerogels are claimed to be the lightest solid in the world, but a new proposal suggests that they can clean up oil spills with their absorbent qualities.  In 50 years, this carbon aerogel will be able to not only absorb oil, but other pollutants to our seas.
